Viber Desktop has introduced annoying ads that are showing up over the conversation list when you start scrolling through your previous conversations.

Here is how to block annoying ads on Viber Desktop for macOS

STEP 1

Start by opening Terminal app either by using Spotlight search or Launchpad or going through Finder > Applications > Ulilities > Terminal.

Open Terminal

STEP 2

Paste the following code and enter your password.

sudo nano /private/etc/hosts

Alternatively you could go through Finder > Go > Go to Folder...(Shift+Cmd+G) and open the /private/etc/ file path, and then open hosts file, but this is much faster.

STEP 3

Scroll to the end of file and add the following:

127.0.0.1 ads.viber.com

STEP 4

Now exit the editor. Don't worry it will as us to save before quiting.

While in editor press:

CTRL+X

Now confirm saving by pressing:

Y

STEP 5

Yaaay! You are done. Quit Viber and open it again. There should be no ads.
